K-Y Intimacy Experiment Day 10 - Putting It All Together
**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
Day 10 - Putting It All Together
Today is the final day in the K-Y Intimacy Experiment. We start by looking back over our journal entries. Think about all of the new stuff that you learned and how you can make it more a part of your life. Send your honey a text message or email letting them know that you are thinking about them throughout the day. Start and end your day with a 30-second hug. Hold hands with your partner anytime you have the chance. It really is the little things that matter the most. Don't forget about writing in your journal.
Thank you for following along our journey with the K-Y Intimacy Experiment! Thank you to K-Y Brand for letting me take part in their Intimacy Experiment!

Day 9 - Dangerous Liaisons
Today is all about shaking things up a little. The day time exercise is to pick an activity that will be fresh and exciting. Something that gets your heart pounding, and your blood flowing.
A few ideas:
- White water rafting
- Hang gliding
- Hiking
- Rollerblading
- Visiting an amusement park
While we don't have money to do any of those activities right now, there is a fair going on at a town nearby. I think this is my favorite time of year! The fair is very crowded, but it is filled with laughter, and fun and the scent of food. Oh, the scent of fair food! That's my favorite part! I love walking through the fair! Something about it is fun and exciting... it reminds me of when I was a kid.
The night time activity is is one to keep your adrenaline pumping.... what you do is up to you. You could try something new - perhaps a new K-Y product? You could try out their K-Y Brand Intense Female Arousal Gel. Have fun with it!

K-Y Intimacy Experiment Day 8 - In Good Taste
**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
Day 8 - In Good Taste
The way to any man (or woman's) heart is through their stomach, right? My husband is an amazing cook! He doesn't do it very often, though. Today's exercises are all about cooking (and eating) with aphrodisiacs.
The day time exercise is for the two of us to cook together. I don't usually enjoy having my husband (or the kids) in the kitchen helping me cook. I enjoy the company, but I don't like people messing with my stuff. If they don't know where something is and they go looking through the cabinets or something... I find that really stresses me out! Anyway, the book says to cook an oyster dish. Unfortunately, neither one of us likes oysters. So, I looked up a list of aphrodisiac foods. We made turkey club sandwiches (turkey, bacon, cheese, lettuce on toast) with asparagus and some fruit (some canned pineapples and peaches).
Dessert is the night time exercise. We tried out the K-Y Yours+Mine Kissable Sensations for the Body. They are a chocolate- and strawberry-flavored liquid, and quite tastey! ;)

K-Y Intimacy Experiment Day 7 - Sometimes a Fantasy
**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
Day 7 - Sometimes a Fantasy
Today is all about discovering your own unique "love maps". According to Dr. John Money of Johns Hopkins University, this term refers to "the sexual template expressed in every individuals erotic fantasies and practices."
The day time exercise is one for the journal and is a multi-step exercise. Describe your most erotically memorable experience(s). This could be a time that involved hot and heavy flirting... it doesn't have to involve sex. There are a series of about 6 questions to answer about the experience(s). One of the questions is: When you think about the experience, does it still turn you on?
Next step, is to make a list of 5 - 10 things that turn you on and another 5 - 10 things that turn you off. These turn-ons and turn-offs are external (example of turn-on: the scent of cologne or perfume while an example of a turn-off: arrogance).
Finally, think about all of your fantasies and answer the questions in the book regarding your fantasies in your journal.
The night time exercise is to share the erotic memories and fantasies with your partner.
I don't have any fantasies... really, I don't. I think my favorite "turn-on" is when my husband kisses me after he's had a beer. There's just something about it that I like. Maybe it's more passionate, maybe it's because he acts silly about it since he knows I like it so much. :)

**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
Day 6 - Getting Back in Touch
Today's exercises are all about getting back in touch with each other... in and out of bed.
Do you think that you and your partner are plenty affectionate?
This daytime exercise is going to put you to the test! Think about this: Not including sex, how often did you touch each other throughout the day? How did you touch each other? Once you've answered those questions, come up with the different ways you could touch your partner in a positive and loving way.
Some on our lists included:
- Holding hands
- A kiss on the cheek (or forehead or lips) - "just because"
- Cuddling on the couch (we do this every evening while watching TV before bed)
- If we both walk into the same room, we often times give each other a hug or a kiss
The night time exercise is very fun and relaxing! What is more relaxing than a nice head to toe massage? The greatest part... thanks to this exercise, we both gave and received massages! (Usually, I am the one who rubs his shoulders or back.) It has been awhile since I was on the receiving end of a nice massage!

Day 5 - Fun and Games
I want to first apologize for this post taking so long for me to get done. We had to wait for a day that my hubby had off of work in order to do this exercise. We were to discover new things together. The books lists the following examples - sing a karaoke duet, visit a children's museum (without the kids!), learn how to dance - anything that is lighthearted, fun and playful. As silly as it is, I have always wanted to be one of those people that goes around to different open houses even though I don't plan to buy the house. I want to see how people decorate and how houses are laid out. It is something that I have a hard time doing because when you go to an open house, people want to know who you are, where you are from, why you are there, etc. I'm sure they just want to make small talk, but if it's an open house with a realtor, they want you fill out your information just for coming to look at things. That is the part I have a hard time with. I don't want to tell people that I am just there, basically, being nosey. This open house, was very different. It was a house that (from the outside) I could actually see us living in. It is very similar to our own house, so we were both very interested. Anyway, we had planned not to tell them any of our real information other than our first names. It was really fun to walk around a house and make comments about how it would be nice to a couch here or a table there or about how big or small a room seemed. Aside from the people following us around a completely empty house, I had fun!
The night time exercise was a fun game of poker. Only, we used Yahtzee Hands Down. It's like regular Yahtzee only it's fully played with cards. (With a little one, we play as many of the new card games so there are no little pieces.) Yahtzee in card form is similar to poker so it was a fun substitution. The other part of the exercise was for each of us to take blank index cards and split them between the two us. Each of us was to split our piles in half. One half was for us to write down body parts and hot spots (ie.. the hollow of your neck or your inner thigh) and the other half was for a method of touch (ie... a kiss or a soft touch). When done, we combined all of the body parts into one pile and all of the methods of touch in another pile. Then, onto the game. Once one person wins, their prize is to pick one card from each pile. The 'loser' is to perform whatever the cards say.

- 2 entries - What is the strangest combination for a body part and method of touch that you can think of?
(My husband's was lick butt... yes... seriously.... he thinks it is hilarious! I would not let him use it for fear that I would pick those cards together!)

K-Y Intimacy Experiment Day 4 - Outside the Comfort Zone
**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
Day 4 - Outside the Comfort Zone
Today is all about exploring the boundaries of our comfort zones.
The day time exercise was more or less a "check list" of obstacles that describe our life. A few examples on the list are:
- Sleep with kids or pets in your bed or bedroom
- Have (and use) a television, computer or smartphone in your bedroom
- Leave the door open while in the bathroom
- Sometimes skip basic hygiene (bathing, brushing your teeth, shaving, etc.) because you're too tired, lazy, or think your partner doesn't care
Now, if you are like us, we are guilty of doing a few of the things on the list. This was not always the case, though. In the beginning, neither one of us would have ever thought about doing any of these things!
The evening exercise is all about the exact thing I am most uncomfortable with - my own nudity. The book says to sit on the couch completely naked and watch a movie together. While both are kids are home, we sent them to bed, put on the television and did what the book said.
While we are very comfortable with each other in most aspects of our relationship... I am not comfortable with nudity.... specifically my own. My body has changed quite a lot in the last 5 years. I had our oldest son almost 9 years ago, and by the time he was 3 months old, I was skinnier than I was before I got pregnant with him. I basically maintained that weight and figure until I went back to work when our son was 3. I got a job at an office where I sat for 10-12 hours a day. Over the course of the next 3 years I gained about 20 lbs. Then, came pregnancy # 2. He just turned a year old and I am not quite back at my pre-pregnancy weight.

K-Y Intimacy Experiment Day 3 - Everything Old is New Again
**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
Day 3 - Everything Old is New Again
Do you remember when you first start dating your partner? Do you remember the butterflies you get when you thought of them? Or when you were with them? Has that "newness" worn off? After being with someone for awhile, that feeling of butterflies is usually replaced by comfort. Today's exercises are about rediscover that sense of "newness".
The day time exercise was to list all of the things that turned you on about your partner when you first met. Having done that, we were to read over our lists and see what ones still hold true. (You may have new attributes to add to the list, but there also may be some negative attributes. If there are, make the negatives on a separate list. Have any of the negatives gotten in the way of the positives?)
I often describe us as the male / female version of each other. No lie.. we think alike... we also think the same things at the same time.... we have the same sense of humor... we like / dislike the same things... we have the same beliefs... we enjoy the same activities... we are both stubborn and hard-headed... We have found that it is very difficult for people to deal with us - we have had not the same but very similar up bringings that have made us the way we are today. Having said that, we are different in many ways. The things that we differ in are the things drive the other crazy!
The night time exercise was not something that were able to do. We were suppose to pick a location and go in separately and pretend to be strangers. Then, flirt like crazy with each other and then leave as though we just met. Beings that it was a Monday night, my husband had to be in bed early for work tomorrow morning. Not to mention we didn't have a babysitter. We are not "go out" type of people. We have "date night" for our anniversary every year, and if we can afford it we might try and have date night for our birthdays. We would rather be at home with our children spending quality time with them. So, to try and complete this exercise as best as we could, I tried to recreate things from when we first starting dating. We first starting dating in 11th grade. He would come over to my house and we would get take-out food. We would then, sit beside each other and watch TV or a movie holding hands.... For supper, I made chicken and white rice and then we put on Ghost Adventures. We sat there holding hands while watching TV just like we used to years ago. While it may not be thrilling or exciting to some, it is to us. I still get butterflies when I get to spend time with just him on the couch while our children are upstairs sleeping! My face still lights up when I talk about him! Over a decade has passed and I am still head over heals for him!

K-Y Intimacy Experiment Day 2 - It's not just about sex
**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
Day Two - It's not just about sex
Does your relationship consist of more positive or negative interactions? Experts believe that the ratio should be 5 to 1: five positive interactions for every negative one. Think about how you interact with your partner outside of the bedroom. Do you find yourselves hugging or holding hands on a regular basis? Both of these are examples of positive interactions. Think about it, if your relationship is doing well outside of the bedroom, you are more likely to want to get into bed together.
The day time exercise was to track all of the positive ways we interact - anything that comes to mind. There also are a few questions to answer. One of the questions was 'To what degree does your relationship have a reserve of transferable desire (those positive interactions, no matter how small, that occur outside of the bedroom), or to what extent are you stick in a "non-transferable" relationship?' I thought I would share a few of the positive ways that we interact with each other...
- Hugging
-Say ''I love you"
- Text each other (sometimes when we're together) just to say "hi" or "I love you"
- email each other
- we compliment each other
- we hold hands every chance we get
- we get the mail together
- blow kisses
All of the little things really do add up! The hubby and I always try to make sure all of these "little things" stay constant.
The night time exercise was all about getting closer, both physically and emotionally. We were suppose to face each other and look deep into each other's eyes. The book specifically says that instead of pulling away from his embrace, to keep hugging. That was not the hard part.... for me, the hard part was next. We were to maintain eye contact during kissing. Seriously... I could not stop laughing. I am not sure what was so funny, but I thought something was hilarious! Like, wake the kids hilarious! At first my husband laughed at me and while not amused he let it go. He, then, got very annoyed. I just could not stop laughing while trying to kiss him with our eyes open. I think he was secretly making faces at me. ;) I found this part to be very awkward and uncomfortable, obviously.

September 11, 2011 - A day to remember...
Do you remember where you were and what you were doing on this day 10 years ago?
I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was a senior in high school at the vo-tech in my photography class. Like every morning, my teacher had CNN on while we were working in the darkroom. I came out of the darkroom just as they started showing the footage of the first tower and then the second plane hitting the second tower. It is a day that I will never forget.
A friend of mine had this posted on Face book and I thought it was nice....
For the husband who told his wife I love you one last time before his plane went down in a field, for the wife who stopped in the stairs to call her husband to say I will love you forever, for the mothers and fathers who kissed their kids goodbye the morning they died, for the policemen who rushed in with the firemen to help get others out only to die themselves, for the soldiers who fought back and lost their lives. Today, tomorrow, ten years from now, we will remember.
What were you doing on September 11, 2001?

K-Y Intimacy Experiment Day 1 - Love Nest
Welcome back to the series of posts related to the K-Y Intimacy Experiment.
**This series of posts is intended to be read by those who are 18 and older. So, if you are under 18, please leave this post now. Thank you!**
This part of the "experiment" is to take place over 10 days. I will do my best to get these posts done daily. As I said in the previous post, each day has a day time activity and a night time activity.
Day One: Love Nest
I thought the reading for today was very interesting. Did you know that women have a harder time relaxing due to worrying about the stress of daily life? This means everything from bills to laundry to tomorrow's plans to a book they are reading to clutter and anything in between. Men do not seem to care about these things... especially if they are "in the mood". Women on the other hand have to "turn off" to turn on. You can do that by trying to make your love nest as relaxing as possible. I am sure that it varies from one person to the next, but that can done by de-cluttering and adding inspiration.
The daytime goal for today is to revamp the space - physically and mentally - where you can leave the outside world at the door and focus on intimacy. Simply put - clean your room, and spruce it up a little bit. Remove the clutter. Maybe put up some new curtains or buy some new sheets or even try painting the walls a new color.
This is actually something that the hubby and I had done recently. We have the smallest room in the house and it has a tiny closet that we both were trying to share. We bought some new storage systems for clothes, and I am very pleased with it. I do have to say that I have noticed that I am able to relax more in my own room. If the little one would sleep through the night, I am sure I could relax enough to get a decent night sleep!
The night time exercise was simple : Christen your new bedroom.

What is the Intimacy Experiment? It is a 10 day experiment with the goal of getting you and your partner closer than ever. You will reconnect and rediscover the fun, passion and sizzle of sex through a series of exercises that will take place both in and out of the bedroom.
"According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the definition of intimacy is 'the state of being intimate: familiarity."
Things to expect:
- Follow the program as it was designed... not all exercises will appeal to you, but it is important to stick with it.
- Be open to sex... 40 million Americans say it's been weeks, months, or even years since they've had sex! Open mind = open heart.
- Take the time... the day time activities can be done (for the most part) individually and at your own leisure.
- Be honest... with your partner and with yourself... These exercises aren't just about sex.

Labor Day
I hope that everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend. I spent the weekend with my family - no big cookout or anything. Hubby's been sick, so we just hung out at home and relaxed. I hope to catch up on my posting in the week or so... I don't like to get so behind, but when all of us are home I find it hard to sit in front of the computer.
It is currently raining here. They say we are to get more rain in the next 24 hours than we got when Irene came through. UGH! My poor basement! I can hear my sump pump as we speak! I would have liked to have ended this long holiday weekend on a better note, but unfortunately, I can't control the weather.
